Carol Ann Vacanti has a need to paint. Although her persona has been described as quiet but friendly her art is bold, colorful and fulfills the senses. Her technique is unique whether in oils, pastels, watercolors or collage. This is evident by her challenge to create art that crosses the lines of realism and abstraction. This unusual and uncompromising talent is evident as you view her work on this site.
Carol recently retired from teaching visual arts at Nichols Middle School in Buffalo thus providing her with more opportunity to concentrate on her creative works. She is an active member of the Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters. A group that seeks out interesting landscapes. Carol attacks her canvases using components in the scene that talk to her. i.e.: wind, radiating light, heat and cold, as well as other visual, tactile and sensory elements.
As Carol puts it, “Since retiring I’ve dedicated myself to painting. I can usually be found fully engaged in the solitude of my studio on the beautiful Niagara River. In addition, to compliment the comforts of my own studio, "Partner's in Art" in North Tonawanda provides wonderful space and other unique elements for my passion.”
